Calling all K5 owners/daily drivers! Looking for info!
Ok...Ive been toying with the idea of selling my sport bike and getting a lifted blazer. Had a 77 K5 as a teen and loved it. Now...pushing 'mid life' and havent been around them Im kinda lost. What im wanting to find out is, what year/years of K5s seemed more 'reliable' or should I say..LESS prone to major malfunctions? lol. Ive been looking around on craigslist..seen some late 80s models (86/87/88) I like. Since the truck will share daily driving duties and possibly some longer highway excursions (camping..mud bogs..off road spots to hide and drink beer) anyone have any info? WHen/IF i do get one...im looking to either get one already lifted or have it done..and prolly be running 35s or 38s. ANY info will be helpful y'all!!!!
The biggest issues with these things I ran into is rust. If you aredown south you might not have any issues with that. The latter trucks like 89-91 maybe earlier have the TBI engines which are pretty bulletproof. I daily drove a k5 for a while when I was younger I also would love to do it again but not with my commute.
