Default dana 30 sas ??

I got this 97 blazer.. I was initially turned off doing a sas build but after some research from what I understand nothing really needs to be swapped out to use the Dana 30. I know alot of people do the 8.8 thing with d44 an all, swapping steering boxes, pitman arms, transfer cases and I bet its a hell of a rig but I'm turned off by the time, money and added weight..

I figured a Dana 30 and and some 31-33s would be just peachy for my taste... Can anyone tell me what would be needed for this swap, I plan on getting parts for doing the swap here in the next few weeks, thanks all

All the same things need to be addressed regardless of which axle you use it's just a matter of which route you choose too address each component. The tcase will need the front output swapped and the crossmember modified regardless of the axle. The factory steering box will work fine if you stay low and don't push the axle forward much but with more lift or moving the axle forward the astro box helps correct steering geometry. For the tire size you are talking a d30 should be fine but I wouldn't be so concerned about the additional weight of a 44 since it's unsprung weight. Here is a good link that covers pretty much everything you will need. I'd take some time and do a bit more research before going full in with an SAS or you will end up spending more time and money than necessary.

i dont see nothing wrong with a dana 30 and smaller tires as long as youre not doing crazy rock climbing or anything. i went with a 44 due to already having one laying around
