For an s10 I'd look towards a jeep front axle. Springs mounts and 4-links are already there and they are a hp, most are dana 30's but the rubicons came out with dana 44's. Will have to get wheel adapters as the s10s are 4.25x5, jeeps are 4.5x5. Full size dana 44's are not worth $400, especially one that needs rebuilt.

Yea I would love to find a jeep axle! Despite the 77-79 ford dana 44s being HP, apparently its just the broncos that had the immovable radius arm mounts. The coil seats can be ground off and perches welded on, but the consensus is that its so easy to find a 77-79 ford d44 from a f250 that its not worth the trouble to grind and flip the bronco d44.

But if i were to SFA the blazer..I would definitely be swapping rear ends..so no adapters needed..id just match axles

And its amazing how much the prices of axles vary...even by geographic location..wild..

Thanks for the info though!
