Default Dead Battery and Colorado Owner

So I was getting ready to run to Taco Bell with the roommates and come across a problem... My key fob doesnt work...

Long story short... the battery was dead because I left the lights on....

Anyways.. I got out my new tow strap and me and my roommates tried to push it out so that my roommates car could jump me....

Well... we cant budge it with all the ice/snow....

So here comes a guy in a newer like 06+ Colorado Crew cab with 4x4 and the Z71 suspension package...

*wave him down*.... I am stuck without a battery.. can you pull me just out of the space... I have a tow strap...

"I don't have a tow package, I do have 4x4 and the offroad suspension, but I don't have the towing package so I can't pull anything...."

Facker doesnt even offer to help push.... and whats the big bullcrap about this... he has front tow hooks!!!!

Well flagged down the campus police dropping off a drunk person and they whipped out 25 foot jumper cables and I was on my way....

Makes me sad to be a chevy owner... To be honest most of the People on campus have loaded parents and newer cars... But that idiot needs to learn how to use daddy's colorado....

Sounds like the Colorado owner just didn't want to be pulling things with his truck - his privilege. Plus, the hooks on the front of his truck are not tow hooks, they are recovery hooks designed to be used for pulling his vehicle out of a spot. Unless they are the size of the ones on Silverados they have been known to pull off from the frame or even bend when used to pull another heavy vehicle.

Well I was in a full parking lot... So they could not get close enough but don't people use their tow hooks on their blazer to pull people?

But I didnt really need a tow... Just moved out of the parking spot...

x2, I really want to know this. I always thought the hooks on the front were capable of towing stuck people

While the front tow hooks are capable of pulling people out, reverse in these transmissions is no where near as strong as drive, nor is it as advantageous of a gear ratio. You could strip the reaction sun shell if you try to yank someone out in reverse. It's always better to pull someone out while in drive.

What exactly is a reaction sun shell? I tried looking it up, to no avail. I only found pictures and such with no explanation to what it is or what it does.

So this means that me pulling someone out in reverse is a BAD IDEA, and I should only use my hitch and D/1

The reaction sun shell is the one device that is used to hold reverse, 2nd, and 4th gears. If it goes, the transmission must be completely torn down to replace it.

Paul Sr. from OCC blew one out on his Hummer H2 trying to back out of a snowbank that Mikey had piled behind it with the plow truck lol... It doesn't take much and I wouldn't risk it personally. However my M/T may hold up a little better in 4lo... Correct me here please Kyle lol.
