RE: does chevy know
Every car has some malfunctions, these are just the ones that happened to plage the blazer.

I'm sure they knew (as any good car company should), but parts break, things wear out, etc.

Well, if owners brought them to Chevy dealers for repair, then they knew. Remember that we have over 10,000 registered members on this site and it's very doubtful that they would post threads like 'My truck is running perfectly today'. Posting a thread for help with a problem or question is the most common type. I wonder if sites for Mustangs, Camaros, 'Vettes, or other vehicles with long production histories show any less numbers of maintenance issues, or if it's just the law of averages at work?

Probably...
I mean, most of those parts are in stock at dealerships, still

Haha good point drperry.
I would have to say...we've got much less problems than other makes....
"Oh man my seat handle broke!" is much better than 2003 Land Rover Discovery owners saying 'oh crap my U-joints just grenaded and my driveshaft punched a hole in the transmission!"
Quit your whining [8D]

well maintained blazers dont seem to have that many problems. w/ theblazer there is just some common stuff that goes there really isnt all that many significant problems with it.
on a survey i saw at work (at a lexus dealership) in the salesmen's area it said the blazer was one of the worst vehicles. this was being taken by reg people who rated their vehicle by what/how many problems they had. among the top ones were toyota, honda, and infinity. the only GM car on the list was the pontiac vibe for the top cars.

I disagree....maintenance has something to do with it...unfortunately like any other vehicles...sometimes you just get the magic one...doesn't matter how well you maintain it...it's going to have issues....where some one else does nothing...and has no problems....also you have to take into consideration how many blazers, Jimmy's, Bravada's...not to mention all the s series trucks....with the sheer number of vehicles...and the popularity of them...more issues are going to pop up....I took into consideration buying my blazer how much parts would cost...figured it'd be cheaper to fix a blazer versus fixing a jeep.....some things to think about,....
