Default Doh a deer

Was coming home from the inlaws last night when just at the edge of my headlights I spotted a deer in the shadows
As I neared its head popped up and it started into my path
I was already on the brakes when it stated forward and quickly grabbed the horn
Fortunately that turned it around
Had I been driving the Blazer instead of Civic I might have a freezer full of meat today
Either vehicle would need body work

I can't say for certain but I think having a slightly louder exhaust helps get their attention. I know often I see the eyes light up as I approach their direction as they turn to see what the hell. I've been closer to hitting a bear than a deer. Knock on wood......

If you bleed it right away , not much worry of disease
Butcher it and its yours
Its kind of like a concession for all the damage to your vehicle

A buddy of mine was headed up to Canada for a gig. He rented a LeSabre to make the drive because he didn't want to put any additional miles on his current car. Outside of Bonners Ferry, ID he hit a deer. A local guy in a truck stopped to help him out. After all of the immediate concerns were settled the guy asked my friend if he would mind letting him keep the deer. My friend was a little taken aback by it but let the guy keep the deer. They somehow got the carcass in the back of the truck and he hauled it away.

Years ago my wife and I were on our way home from a snowmobiling trip
We were at least an hour from any small towns , so a remote area
We came across a truck stopped in the road a man and woman standing over a deer
I stopped to make sure everyone was ok
Other than Bambi's demise and a little damage to the P/U all was good
I offered to help the guy load the deer into the back of his truck knowing him and his wife would not be able to do it
He grabbed the front hooves and me the rears
We farmer waddled his kill towards the back of his truck
Suddenly I felt a real strong pulling of the hooves
The first thing that came threw my mind was Bambi wasn't actually dead just stunned
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Do I hold onto the hooves or let go , either way I am going to get kicked
My wife said the look of shock on my face said it all
Turned out I unknowingly managed to step on Bambi's tail with my big winter boots and she truly was dead
Talk about a holy sheet moment

I nailed a big *** deer at 60mph in my Scion xB a few years ago. Sent the deer flying like a 4 legged frisbee every bit of 40 feet in front of me. It jumped up and ran off like nothing ever happened (likely in shock)...totalled my car which I had JUST paid off.

We have lots of Deer around here. Now is almost the worst time to be hitting them. It gets worse as the rut gets going soon. I clobbered a Deer with a Jeep I used to own. I had a Warn Trans4mer grill guard system on the front. I showered down on the brakes and was slowed when I hit it. I spun it around and it jumped up and ran off. When I got home and looked the next morning, a little blood and fur and no other damage.

I can't say that about a frined and his brand spankin new Goldwing 1800. I was riding with some friends. The guy leading the ride had his first ever NEW motorcycle. Maybe 1000 miles on it. I was third in line and saw a Deer come off a bank on the side of the road and land right in front of the Goldwing. The brake lights came on as he hit the deer. It literally cut the Deer in half. The front of the bike pretty well disappeared. It took the fairing completely off, bent the front forks and triple tree and coolant and oil sprayed across the road. He got stopped but it pretty well totalled the bike beyond repair. My Concours almost went down from coolant, oil and blood all over the road.

By the way, if you do salvage the meat from a road kill, be sure to cut out the glands in the rear legs. Otherwise, you won't be able to eat the meat later.

years ago a family friend called because he hit a beef cow outside the city
he was driving a RWD Nova and it looked like somebody dropped a wrecking ball on the grill and hood area
The police didn't believe it was a cow because Betsy got up and left
They did a sobriety test and questioned him over and over
The two young cops finally searched the field and found Betsy deader than a door nail
She had got up and ran a couple hundred yards before dropping
