Default donor truck worries

I have found another 01 jimmy with a lot of problems (gauge cluster and a lot of electrical and minor body) but with low miles and also have a wrecked donor truck for parts that was huge miles. I am wondering when I swap the cluster will it carry over the the odometer reading or is that stored in the pcm? I know with most Chrysler products (don't yell too loud) it is in the ecm unless they have a standalone tcm. I just want to make sure that the miles stay correct or the truck value plummets. If some of the problems stem from the pcm then I would just go to a wrecker and buy a pcm with close to the same miles, but how do you bypass the security feature. I am a novice at this but I can learn
