Hello, i just want to have some option on wether the upcoming decision i might be making will be a good one or not. I currently drive a 2000 s10 blazer 4dr and LOVE it. I got it for a really good deal about 1200 under book value. Now ever since i have fallen in love blazer i have always loved and wanted a k5. I am just not sure if i will like the downgrade in tech. i really do like everything that my blazer can do and there isnt a single thing i would change but i also love the k5's (88-91) and really would love to get one. So i would just like to ask everyone what they think would be a good idea. I do use it as a DD and take it up in the hills about every other weekend for basic camping and some climbing and digging here and there
so i am just wondering, would i hate downgrading from a newer s10 to the old k5 and would i hate the gas milage (even though there isnt much of a diffrence)? thanks and any input you could give would be very much appreciated. you guys are the experts

Just get the k5 and keep your current blazer and have both!! That's what I would do anyway.

The older k5s are nice , the parts are rather cheep to as far as brakes , calipers , and what not . It may use a little more gas but thats to be expected , If you can I would keep both to . I don't really care for the second gen blazers , I don't no why but I just don't . I guess I like the box look .

I'm somewhat in the same boat. When I'm out of school, I'm getting a loan and buying a nice clean M1009 (military blazer). I've always loved'm. But I'd say get both! You can always sell one later if you decide that you don't like one of them.

They are really cool trucks, but I think you'll be unhappy going from a smooth 2000 blazer to a K5. Parts are pretty cheap, and they're awesome when they're working properly. But, I think if you are unfamiliar with older stuff you will feel like it's a bad decision in the end. If you could have both that would be nice. Having a second vehicle can be pretty handy.
Why not look at a newer full size blazer/tahoe/yukon? Stuff made after '91. Without knowing too much about you, I would think that would compare better to your 2000 blazer. They are still pretty tough trucks, and power went up pretty significantly on the late 90's-early 2000's stuff.

i agree with the few others, keep them both if possible. ive always had two trucks for the past 12 years. one daily driver and one to offroad or drive in the winter. my first two trucks about 10 years ago was a 83 s10 blazer to daily drive and a k5 for offroading. nice to have a back up vehicle too encase something breaks.
