Default Driver floorboard pooling with water when it rains

So I bought a '97 Blazer not too long ago and I recently noticed that the driver side floorboard keeps flooding with water everytime it rains. I took it in and cleaned the cowl drains so I know that's not the issue, but it's still flooding with an inch or two of water when it rains.
From the best I can tell, it's coming from the top left of the foot space right behind the E-Break because the foam padding under the carpet is only wet going up towards that area and it starts to dry out more towards the heater side. The door seal is completely dry, under the plastic panel around the hood latch is completely dry along with the hole behind the panel as well.
Should I just rip out that foam padding to look and worry about re-adhesiving it afterwards? would I take it to a general mechanic or an auto body shop? I'm not a car guy so idk really anything about this stuff, thanks in advance.

Do you have rust on any parts of the Blazer? Try a search. Someone recently posted that they had a leak and found a rust hole that allowed water into the compartment.

Look under the wheel-well liners. Where the firewall bends into the floor-pan there is a joint about 20 cm (8 inches) up from the bottom where they usually rust. About where you say it seems to leak in.
Also look at the body to frame support on both sides, normally the passenger side goes bad first. Can rust out without too much visible indications. Then it rusts out a square around the support bracket welded to the floor pan.

Remove the sill cover, the front side covers on the A-pillar and fold the carpet and insulation back. Normally you will find something.

An unusual spot for it to leak into would be through the trough of the ventilation below the grille in front of the windshield. I doubt it has rusted through there. What is another rust issue is nearly on top of the fender inside close to the A-pillar and the firewall.
