Electric Emergency Blazer?!?!
My girlfriend and I came across this picture in my friend's phone a few nights ago. It's a Emergency vehicle from Taneytown, MD (said "Tawney-town. Don't ask why the hell it's pronounced like that, no one knows), it's a Blazer, and it's electric. I'm just wondering what the heck is going on here? How'd they get an electric Blazer? Why would they use it for emergency purposes? Would it even stand up to a normal gas-powered Blazer? etc.

Haha No its not electric. That is a quick disconnect charger. All of our firetrucks and most every newer emergency vehicle have one but im not sure why they decided to put it right there on the fender. It plugs in and is wired to keep things inside the vehicle charged. Such as flashlights, defibrillator, radios, heart monitors, etc. They may also have that one wired to a block heater but other than that it has nothing to do with the motor. The plug-in is also spring loaded so that when you crank the vehicle it will pop out and you dont have to worry about unplugging it.

Yea pretty much all emergency vehicles have those o keep stuff charged. But there was an electric blazer in 98. In competed in some competition. I think it was custom though. They're parting it out on the local craigslist.
