Default ELM 327 OBDII Bluetooth device

I have an ELM 327 OBDII Bluetooth device that I use on my 2011 Buick Regal without issue. I'm using the Torque app, btw. Shouldn't I be able to use this on my 02 Blazer as well? When I plug it in, it goes from green to yellow to red almost immediately. Am I using the wrong device?

Should work, both are standard OBDII ports. Something wrong with the port on the Blazer maybe? Stop by a local auto parts stores, most will hook a scanner up and scan for codes for free. Should at least tell you if the port is functional.

I use exactly one of these with Torque on my 04 without issues.

I did go by oreillys and get my abs code pulled the other day so I believe the port is ok. Not sure why the scanner isn't talking to my phone when it's connected to my blazer. Works fine with the buick. Guess I'll have to get a regular scanner with a cord. Thanks though.

ABS, SRS, and transmission codes will not come up with a basic OBDII scanner like the ELM327, those take a more advanced scanner to retrieve. I've used a buddies Snap On scanner to diagnose a bad wheel speed sensor (ABS), bad airbag impact sensor (SRS), and bad solenoids in the trans on my 04...

If you want a good scanner that is not too expensive, look into the "bluedriver" on amazon. its ~$100 I have one of these and it works amazing. It will read all codes including ABS, TCM, BCM, ECM and most of the time can give you an idea of possible fixes. you can also datalog with it while you are driving to help diagnose issues. I recently used it to diagnose an intermittent idle issue which turned out to be a bad throttle position sensor that never threw a code. but looking at the logs after driving a bit i could see my TPS was sticking at 24% randomly so my engine would not idle back down.

Also check to make sure you cig lighter next to the ash tray has power. The OBD port and Cig lighter are on the same fuse.

But the fact that the red light comes on indicates there IS power. I believe that the red light indicates the adapter has not paired with your phone. Maybe you need to set up a different vehicle in your app?
