Arrow Engaging 4x4 Properly???

I downloaded the owners manual and I have also googled how to properly engage the 4x4 on my 97' Blazer and I actually got 2-3 different way's ..... which I am not surprised. There is no better place to ask than this site so what is the proper way to engage? I assumed to stop, truck in neutral, push button to engage or disengage. After disengaging I read where I have to back up 10' but that doesn't seem right. Thx in advance!!!

for 4wheel high you can shift on the fly (while driving) its not suggested to do it at high speeds, but my buddy has shifted his into 4 hi on the highway.

4 lo needs to be shifted in neutral while stopped.

As for the 10' I have not heard that before.
