Default Help with front axle

I need help. i was replacing the cv shaft on the passanger side a doing so the axle from inside the differentail came out too.Can i just slide it into place,or am i screwed and have to take the whole differential apart to put the axle back in? (part number 1)

It's always helpful if you put your vehicle info into the post or your signature so that we know what year. make and model you have.
There is probably a ring clip on the shaft that you pulled out and the shaft should just snap back in.
If you want to put your vehicle info in the post, we may be able to look it up.

Did you separate the inner axle from the outer (cv) axle?
Check the inner axle and make sure the retaining ring (7) is attatched. You should be able to install the axle into the housing if the retaining ring is on the shaft and the thrust washer and clutch gear have not slipped in the housing.
If the washer or the gear have slipped you will have to remove the housing.
let us know and we can walk you through it. This is still something that can be done at home.

Chevy lover yes i got the axle separate from cv.The axle did have the retaining ring on .when the axle came out show did washer # 10 looks like a spring washer. looking down the tube everthing looks in place.
