hey guys im back...with a question
ok here i am, possibly getting back into the blazer world since the wreck
and theres a 98 4x4 blazer 4 door im looking at
75k miles, perfect condition, and he only wants 4500
he said there is a slight vibration at hwy speeds
and said he thinks the tires need to be balanced
or front shocks
what do you guys think?
PS why was this moved from the suspension section?

IMO it could be the tires, drive shaft, bearing hub, idler, pitman, cv joint... you sure it's in the front? could be a rear drive shaft ... get it up in the air on a hoist & run it in 2wd, then 4wd & have someone check things out... a multitude of things really, go with the 'process of elimination' & how much you could afford to fix lol
Stevo! Welcome back man. I didn't think we'd see you back around here lol.
Depending on condition that seems a tiny bit pricey to me for a 98. I'd see about talking him down to 4k or so. The vibration could be tires...I'd definitely look at that first. It might be a bigger issue then it seems. Definitely check the whole front end out and drive it (of course).

lol i know ive been away for a long long time
its been so crazy with the wreck, we have had so many snowstorms
business with lawyers about the wreck
and my grandpa has past away
we were at the nursing home every day for about 10 hours
the past month or so
but...
its in crazy perfect condition, around here
4500 is cheap, they usually go for 6-8 grand with that low of miles
my uncle owns a front end shop
so maybe i can take it down there and get it checked out before i buy

sorry to hear about the grand father, my condolances
& yeah anywhere off road 4x4 is so much better
i understand the misunderstanding
and yes 4x4 would really help me out
i go camping in the most remote places we can find in ky
and they get pretty rough
i talked to my dad about it
and he said it might be the idler arm
we replaced it on the old blazer
the owner said it is hardly noticable
and we are going to meetsomewhere
he lives 40-50 miles away in indiana
but i gotta wait until all this snow melts
we have like 6-8 inches on the ground

hmmm idler causing vibrations at highway speeds?
i see the idler causing a sloppy steering wheel, not vibrations, same with the pitman
ok i just contradicted myself lol, but thinking over it more i'd say a wheel bearing assy.
balance somewhere is out, maybe a tire - lost counter weight?!
to me i'd look at anything that spins... does it vibrate at low speed, say 10-20 mp/h? then goes away & comes back at higher speeds?... i had a P/S wheel bearing assy do that
it would howl a bit then go away only to come back when im doing 50+
