Default HID/auto headlights

This has probably been asked before but i couldnt find anything. I just put my HIDs in today and was wondering if I should disable my auto headlight. I heard that they produce a voltage spike on start up and I really dont want to mess them up.

I have got to say, I hate HID's. They blind me more than someone with their high beams on and are very distracting to me.

I hated them too... until I got a pair & see how they improve the night vision.
Also having them in projector lenses (which they were originaly designed to be used in) makes a HUGE difference
for not blinding people. The "cut off" in projectors does this when properly aimed.
People that install them in regular lens housings are probably the ones that are blinding you.

Yeah sometimes the passenger side flickers when I start the truck & doesn't stay on. I just click the high beams on & off once & the HID turns on. Somewhere online I found that there is a kit/fix for that but it's $40 & flashing the high beams on & off for a second is a lot cheaper.

I had the same problem with my 99 when I put my HIDs in. Just take off your passenger side dash speaker cover, which is where the light sensor is located. Go to Radio Shack and get a 2.2Kohm 1/4 watt resistor. Splice the wires and your done. The automatic lights will no longer work but will work with the switch. I also bought 1k 1/2 watt resistors, but cant remember if they were the ones that worked or not (pretty sure it was the 2.2k 1/4watt). They are really cheap so don't worry.
