Would you guys even consider buying a 96 4x2 SLT Jimmy with 250,000 miles on it? I dont mind something that needs a little work but I also dont want a disaster. I have not looked at it yet and dont know anything about it.

 

Good question. My 02 has 160k and I'm deeply paranoid about that, possibly because I used to rebuild engines at 75k or so. I'm really hoping that engine technology has advanced significantly since 1972.
Anywho, not trying to hijack, just interested in others opinions

 

I just bought one with 194k on it and runs good. with regular maintenance cars should last a long time.

 

I got mine with 160k, up to 175 now since August 2011. still running very strong, got my 94 with 165k, someone hit me and totaled it when it had 205k, and it was still running like a champ.

 

my friends '95 has 230,000 on it and it still runs strong and smooth. I have heard of people getting 500,000 out of these engines. As long as they are taken care of with proper oil then the internals will easily reach that mileage. Im not sure how long different gaskets will last but there wont be problems with the internals.
