Default How long for a typical trans rebuild?

For those of you who have had your tranismission rebuilt, how long did it take the shop to do it? I dropped my truck off just before the shop closed on Tuesday of last week. The shop owner told me he'd call on Wednesday to tell me if it was something he could fix or if it'd need a whole rebuild. I didn't hear on Wednesday so I called on Thursday to find out what was up. He told me it definitely needed a rebuild so I'd hear back Monday-Tuesday.

Well, here is is Tuesday after they close, and still no answer.

I'm trying to be patient, but I really cannot friggin stand driving my sisters 96 Grand Am POSGT much longer, I'm going insane!

It depends on the shop and how long it takes them to get the parts; which is usually the longest lead time thing... My truck was in and out in a 3 day window (in late on Tuesday and I picked it up the same time that Friday).

I wouldn't think a stock rebuild would take long to get parts?

All depends on where they're coming from. Not many shops stock transmission rebuild kits.

Really depends on parts availability and how much work the shop has on the schedule.

That said, I had my dad's tranny rebuilt, out of town while on the road with HD parts in two days for one heck of a price. If I ever get my Blazer out that way, I'll have them rebuild mine.

Called in earlier for an update and was told it'll be done tomorrow. Finally! (Can you tell I'm impatient to stop driving this POS Grand Am?)
