Bought mine for $1400. Needed about $3900 of maintenance right off the bat. Me and my dad did most the work but there were some things that were easier for a maintenance shop to do like motor mounts (ran me a pretty penny at $1250 alone) but parts took most of the cost. Put about $500 worth of second hand parts in it, i.e junkyard parts
About 2 grand currently for the truck in my sig, nil cost for vehicle as i won it in a bet. by the end of getting it repaired to a daily use condition i will have about 3,000$(USD) into it.
Purchased in 2010 for ~$4000
Other big purchases/expenses excluding normal consumables (oil, tires, brake pads, etc.):
Suspension lift parts: $400
Rebuilt transmission: $3,000
Upgraded radiator: $500
Other odd parts replaced (not normal consumables): $500
Definitely not bad averaged out over the time I've had it; about $1000 per year for an upgraded Blazer.
I'm $300 into this one so far including purchase price. I bought it with a seized engine. Originally was going to part it out for my jimmy. Plans changed and I swapped my engine from the jimmy into it. Next money going into it will be tires. So I think I did ok for $300. Full leather interior and everything works. So now the wife has a 4x4 winter ride!
I'm in around 11k now lift blown cv axles a few times, fixed the sloppy steering, replaced all suspension,
