Hey I’m new to blazers and I found one I find interesting that is claimed to be extremely rare. It’s a 96 2 door 4X4 with the 4X4 package(tougher suspension, steel push bar, full size tire with a key on the back) he was saying almost no 96 Chevy blazers come with those 3 in one car. The color is black with black interior(apparently rare to have both) and he was saying something about having a different engine,I think a 350 small block, with the 700r4 transmission. Mainly the only thing I knew about this blazer was that the 2 door was more rare than the 4 door but he was explaining like it’s the rarest blazer anyone can find. I started doing a little research and so far he’s right and I can’t find any other blazer like it so I turned to this forum to maybe get some answers, maybe I did find the rarest blazer or maybe I found the most common blazer and I’m just dumb.
It might be rare for that year, but it's nothing special rare unfortunately... the 2 doors are more common around here... 95-97 years are less comon on the roads, but nothing rare about them, other then seeing them...
The color combo is actually one I think is preferred. The others are just little cosmetic add ons, that's what I would call them anyways, nothing to fancy about them, but again preferred...
A 2 door zr2 are getting rare i would consider... and that looks like a regular 4x4 blazer, not a zr2... but more pics could help get a better idea.
Maybe it's one-of-a kind because it has low mileage and is in great shape. Don't try to lowball such sellers as they know what they have. I am far from a blazer aficionado but I don't see how a 350 would fit in my '91 or my '02. But then, I'm not a fabricator who is capable of such feats either. Color me shallow but I don't like the looks of the 'hood he's living in either and would be highly skeptical of anything around there.
I'm not aware of any 2nd gen Blazers that came with a 350 V8. If it does have that engine-transmission combo in it then it's almost certainly custom swap. The V8 swap is certainly doable but it's a lot of work.
I agree with Don that the feature combo isn't particularly rare, but it does look like a nice clean truck from that single pic. If it has low miles, and depending on the asking price, it might be a nice deal.
I also would be curious to see a pic of the engine if you have it.
The only thing "rare" about it is that is look nice from the pic and it is still on the road. Chevy never put a 350 in any of the little Blazers/Jimmys but a number of people over the years have. I'm still waiting to put a 5.3 into mine but that dang little 4.3 just won't give up the ghost!
As far as rare S-10 Blazers/Jimmys go, I would have to say the 2005 Blazer ZR2 with 2wd only from the factor is the rarest of the bunch. I've never seen one in person but did see a local ad for one a few years back.
