Yah the only issue( For me at least) is if you are under your parents is if you get into an accident you will bump up not only your own insurance rate but also the rates of your parents vehicles....

Thanks for the help guys, I currently drive a 94 Chevy Cheyenne liability only costs me 500 a year with Farm Bureau, which i think is crap, and thats considered good, I pay $100 less than i would because of my good grade discount. My dad is considering what you guys said about putting it under my parents name, but like OILCOUNTRY said if i get in a wreck all of our rates are gonna go up. I would hope that wouldnt happen but you never know when something could happen when you get out on the road. Ive been driving since i got my Farmers permit at 14 and have been lucky enough so far to not have any accidents.

in Ontario, if that were to happen (with any driver, my mother in-law is on my policy) the claim stays on the primary policy holder's policy-but only affects the driver @ fault, for 3 years. @ which point, the offending driver can than move companies (if they wish) without it affecting the primary policy holder's record.

if the offending driver tries to move before that time, the primary policy holder would then be held accountable for the remaining time, which varies company to company. it can be anywhere from 4 to 7 years max.

WOW! For once there is one thing that is cheaper over here than at you guys.

I pay $720/year for full covered insurance on my Blazer, me this includes if I drove off the way and totaled my truck, hit an elk, somebody crash a window or mess up my truck in any way, a guy crash in to me and then escape the scene etc.
In Sweden we got a law that you must have traffic insurance wich is the smallest protection. This cover you and other people if you got in any crash, hit somebody or your self got injured in traffic. But this will not cover any damage to your own truck, not even if somebody steal it.

that's alittle more than i pay for my '98.

and that's what is called PLPD (Public Liability Public Damage) here in Canada, and like you, is the bare minimum required. they used to have a $500,000 policy, but i think it's now $1,000,000 due to the increasing time we live in. hell, a bus shelter @ a bus stop inToronto is something like $114,000! no wonder they're always raising the cost of public transit here.

I paid roughly 675 every six months for full coverage as there was a loan on it...

Looking at buying another blazer and having the old blazer with just liability (covering other driver) was about 700 every six months

like everyone already said, go under your parents insurance.

Got my insurance thru progressive last year at the time 20 years old no tickets. Full Coverage on the Bravada with $100 deductible and $500 deductable on my sunfire GT. I pay $1600.00 a year for both cars combined. At the time I still had my blazer which was totaled a month after I got insurance on my own. Had a check in my hand in less then 24hrs and my rates stayed the same.
