Default Interior seat release not working?

I am trying to help a friend of mine with her old blazer. I believe it is either a 1985, or a 1991 Chevy blazer. Anyways, the rear seat release on the left side appears as if it is working, but the seat won't move forward. Does anyone know what I might do about getting this to work? Any diagrams, or helpful information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you might give.

On my 98, the release handle on the back of the seat is connected by a thin cable to a latch underneath the seat. The latch can be manually moved if the cable comes detached from the release handle.

I have a picture of the latch I can post but I'm not sure how similar my seat is to yours so it may not help much

The actual mechanism that releases the seat is the small bar that I photoshopped green. The handle on the back is attached to the thin cable and connected via a small (and fairly weak) metal clip which is colored in blue.

Hope it helps
