Default Keys lost

Hello my name is joe. Im new to this forum. But i have a question. I recently bought a 96 jimmy. The previous owner lost the keys. Im wondering if those keys have chips or are code? Can i just take the lock out and take to a locksmith and have new ones made? Thank you for your time.

My '96 Blazer just has a regular lock. You can pull what ever lock is easiest and have a locksmith cut one to fit. A little tip though, just get one key made at the locksmith and then later on get some made at the hardware store. They're a whole LOT cheaper.

you might want to check a dealership first i had the same problem with a chev 1500 i bought and i only spent 40 bucks at the dealer to have the keys for the ignition and doors cut where the locksmith wanted over 120

but like said above only get that one set done where ever you have them cut it then get your spare somewhere else.

Yup, you can just get it done at a lock smith or dealer. No chip in these.
