have you ever had one of those days where you just want punch something. Was doing a final tq down on the head bolts and then all I heard was snapppp and ya not happy right now. so this is where I say goodbye to the 4.3 and hello 4.8. My buddy works for gm and he told me the 4.8 is more bullet proof then the duramax. so watch for many pics and detail towards the end of the summer. z06 cammed 4.8 here i come. selling the 4.3 will cover some of the costs for the swap i am stoked.

Just a thought... This is probably a "Build thread" worthy build, and around here, we like pics and progress (usually together.) It'll be fun watching this progress

Sucks when you snap a bolt off. but hey a 4.8 should be fun. my step brothers 01 pickup has that and its a pretty tough little engine. I presonally would rather put a 350 vortect from the late 90's trucks. My grandpa has a 97 and that truck is an absolute beast.I am sure that truck would pull anything you wanted

ya I got to that point but now I will have a garage lol. I got 2 other direct drop ins to do then the blazer will be on the chopping block

dropping a buick 350 into a 78 TA all I have to do is get apollo mounts and it should drop right in and bolt to the bell housing

then drop the heart that is in the back of the blazer into my 99 regal gs and drop the intercooler on that setup and do the headers and she will be alive again

the build will be about function and the like and make the blazer how they should have been.

My buddy works as a dyno tech for gm aka he gets to beat on the diff motors and push them till they break. He said the 4.8 last longer then the durmaxs and usually the dmaxs have a 500k+ life, so I am very interested what kind of results the 4.8 will provide with just a simple cam swap i am shooting for a very reasonable 275rwhp to 300 rwhp and 325+ rwtq

Prolly wont get much racing done this summer but will be good to go on running vehicles for winter and ready to go next summer.

Use the search for duramax.... lol, there was a thread that linked to someone who traded his duramax with something like 750K on it... lol

I remember that, and the only thing that had been replaced on the engine was a water pump!

See I debated a 350 but reality kicked in. This will be a winter commuter over a mountain pass that crests at over 8k ft altitude and I will not be towing much with what my soon to be fiancee told me she wants a chevy 2500 with an 8 ft box and ext cab so ya that will tow nicely. Also the vortec has no support for the hptuners setup I use to tune my regals but the 4.8 is unlocked with the setup. Also if boost just happens to "fall on" the lsx is a better base to build off.

Also the blazer will be getting some thump courtesy of the cl find of 2 infinity reference 10 in subs for an awesome price also scoping out an infinity amp on ebay too. I will just have to find a good deck then will double din units fit?

very nice and I agree many pictures will be needed. I have said for years that I don,t know why they never put a 4.8 in from the factory.
