I was on my way to Evansville Indiana and my exhaust broke off. (After the CAT, but before the muffler, right at that 3 bolt flange) Anyways, i thought to myself, i need to get this fixed. I took it to Midas (dont ever go there!!!) to see how much they would charge to put in a replacement pipe. they quoted me at $40. i said screw that so i drove it home how it was. It sounded really ratty and loud. I loved it!!! :-). So i drove my 260miles back home and i checked my milage. It was an amazing 24mpg!!! I drive a 1995 Blazer with 161,000 miles on it(only mod is a K&N cold ait intake.) has anyone else had this happen to them before? i wish i could say it still doesnt have a muffler on it, but yesterday i got an aftermarket one put on.
Thanks,
Jason

Could have done a bullit muffler and it would have basically been the same as not having one.

My old 91 blazer's exhaust pipe came off after the cat a week after I got it. I think it broke off when I was off roading around the Dumont Lake area in Colorado. It was a really old, rusty exhaust pipe anyway and after it came off the truck was pretty loud (a good thing).

16 is actually not that bad a number for these trucks (assuming city driving).

I just filled up and figured my MPG according to the trip. I came up with 19, which is a great number because I'm running the A/C constantly and I can't keep my foot out of the throttle!

Agreed, I drive with the windows down around town and am usually on the throttle a bunch and tend to get 15-17mpg in the city, if I drive the county/state highways doing 60mph then I get around 23-25mpg.

It was actually 18.842, but I rounded it to a nice solid 19...
