Default oil pressure

my oil pressure gauge is going up and down it goes all the way down and my check gauge light comes on it only does this when i stop and when and going or start going it goes back up can anyone help me please i dont know whats wrong and i am getting mad

could be oil sending unit if you are lucky if not lucky could be rod and main bearings you could hook up mechanical oil pressure gauge to test, I do not reccomend driving it with low oil pressure could throw a rod

x2...............I had a sending unit go out once......did that same thing.

the oil pressure is not running low tho the gauge just goes down when i stop and hit the brake if it is just running its fine i thought it was the sending unit ill have to check it out anyone know where it is i heard on the olds ones its right by the oil filter i havent checked yet tho

First thing I would do is put a mechanical gauge on it and check pressure.
