Also as for aftermarket valve covers, what would fit? i keep seeing ones that say 1986-93, so im not sure.

Im personally a Edelbrock guy so I would go with the Edelbrock 4252.

I'm not sure you understood what I meant, or the way I put it probably lol... to powdercoat something it involves a chem bath, rinse, primer & paint & then baking them at I think around 350 for a period of time.
The place next door to me does powdercoating for railways, our city, a ton of other customers not to mention for USDND - United States Department of National Defence (via my company), they do a professional job. That being said I don't work for them, but that's how I know they do certain aspects of their powdercoating. I'm just not sure how any plastic would hold up to such a treatment is all.

Powder coating covers on the engine really has no effect. You can not however powdercoat plastic as it will melt in the curing process. Just find some paint you like and paint them like you would any other plastic part.
