Putting a GM reman'd longblock in my Blazer.

Anyone ever used one? Problems? Warranty issues? Anything? Thanks.

Gonna be paying a pretty penny for it... Most shops i worked for would get shortblocks from a local machine shop for much less.

I worked for GM for 10 years and installed tons of the long blocks of all sizes and only had a problem with 1 old 305 that had a torn valve seal, I found the quality of the engines very good, and they stood behind their warranty while I was working there

At any rate, I don't want to wait for three months for the local shop to keep putting my stock rebuild at the back of the line while they build everyone's engines for their race cars. After some price comparison online, a decent longblock would be around $1700 plus tax and $175 for shipping. Thru my job at an auto body and automotive repair shop, I can get a GM longblock for $2k plus tax and no shipping costs.
Do the math. Or I can do it for you. $1700 plus $150 or so in taxes is 1850. Add another $175 for shipping and your at $2025 for an engine that may or may not be any good from a company that could be out of business in six months, so I'm stuck with a boat anchor with a warranty that no one will honor. Or I can spend $2000 plus $170 or so in taxes and $0 shipping for a total of $2170 for an engine from a known, reputable source that won't be out of business next year. Or the next. Or the next.
I think I'll spend the extra $145 for a GM longblock. Wouldn't you?

Nowhere did I say I wanted a shortblock. Even my younger sister would know that a shortblock is going to cost less than a longblock, regardless of where it's from.

that was far from defensive and rude. About as far off as his response to my question lol. And here you go with the name calling. Really? Really?
Now look at Jase's response. Exactly the kind of response I was hoping for. His experiences with GM longblocks and their warranties.
Thanks, Jase1979. Anyone else?

Some people just cant take an simple answer nicely even if its not answering the question. It was just an honest opinion. A real person would say thank you but I do not want a short block because of so and so.

So please enlighten me on how he or anyone else on this forum is suppose to know your experience or history with vehicles? And sure common sense would tell you a short block is cheaper than a long block unless one didn't even know the difference between the two in which case I'd sure as hell like a tip like that if it could potentially save me a large chunk of change. And in any case was it really necessary for you to take the time to post the comment you made about his post rather than just saying "thanks for the responses guys"? Bottom line is you asked a question he answered with his person response from his personal history in dealing with these sort of things so regardless of his response yours was unnecessary and yes it was also rude I'm sure many more would agree with me just judging by your reputation right under your post count!
Edit: see there's a person who agreed with me before I even finished typing my response!! Thanks Gio
Edit#2: I just re-read your post and I don't see where I called you a name either!! If your referring to the "d###" in my post that wasn't me calling you a name that was me saying "damn"
Edit#3: also if you re-read your OP you will see that you did indeed ask for... how was it that you put it? oh yeah "Anything?" so again no need to act like that and jump on his sh## for giving you an answer to the question that you asked.

Hey d1ck... Most rebuilders local have a whole row of the v6 you are looking for so you can cash and carry one. And they ring in about 850 - then you take all the very reusable stuff off the one you took out, slap it together and voila. 1000 dolar engine. But hey if you want a longblock full of stuff you already have that works fine, then have at er. I guess if i had yoyr money I could burn mine

I wish I had money to burn.
