Question
I have a 2000 chevy blazer ls 2wd .. and a 2004 chevrolet blazer xtreme 2wd... the 2000 decided to throw a piston out of the oil pan.. I just got the 2004.. I am stripping the 2000 for parts I may need in the future... my question is: Will the 2000 chevy blazer ls transmission fit a 2004 chevrolet blazer xtreme.? Both are 2wd but the 2000 gear changer is on the column and the 2004 gear changer is on floor board... Both are automatic.. thanks for any input on this.
I cannot speak to transmissions specifically, but when I want to check parts interchangeabilty, I'll see if the two vehicles share the same part numbers at a GM parts supplier website. I often use GM Parts Giant as you can input the VINs to get exact fitment info.
For your question, I'd be surprised if the transmissions were different. Instead I'd expect only the linkages to be different.
Perhaps someone else here has some direct experience with this type of swap.

Thanks I will check out that website...but in my experience from the 70s and 80s the actual tranny stayed the same for any specific model with the same body style.. except for the linkage like you said.. and if they used the same tranny for the following years it was the same except for the bell housing.. but unfortunately the part numbers were different
