Default Rear bumper interchangeability

I was wondering if the 98 and up rear bumper can be installed on the 95-97 Blazer/Jimmy? The rear bumper on the Jimmy I'm buying isn't in the best of shape and there seems to be a greater supply of the later model parts vehicles. I really only need the center section, not the sides.

One thing to try is to look up if the part numbers for your truck is the same as the parts that fit on the later models.

You can do this using the parts search at the GM parts sellers.

I actually did look up the part number on Rockauto and GMPartsDirect and it is listed for 95-97. However, they changed the design/look of the bumper in 98, but I don't know that they changed the mounts on it, so I'm thinking that potentially a 98 bumper could fit on a 95-97, while not really looking the same.

I would take the gamble of the brackets being the same. To what I've seen in the wrecking yards, the mounting locations are the same, just types changed.
