Default Rear Diff rebuild

Well you got to love your chevy blazer until you have to open the check book and spend tons of money. I recently had some noise coming from my rear diff, so I took it apart to see what was going on with it. Well what I found was both rear axles where grooved badley and the pinion bearings rough. I never thought rear axles cost so much. Instead of rebuilding the diff I had, I figured I replaced the whole diff. assambly from a junkyard. I later found out the rear diff. I have in my 97 blazer was a 342 limited slip. I called tons of junkyards and they tell me, yea we got one and I get down there and find out it's not limited slip. I never found the limited slip diff. just 342 open diffs. So I tried to rebuild the diff. I tried to use off set wheel axle bearings, so I can keep the cost of my repairs down. That did not work out for me, because the off set baerings I purchased did not want to go into the housing. So after fighting with trying to replaced the hole diff. from the junkyard and using bearings I could not get to work. I broke down and spent betwwen 450 and 500 dollars to rebuild it the correct way with brand new axles.. I never would of thought tring to find a 342 limited slip diff was so hard, but I guess they are not very common..
