Default replacement parts....

on this forum ive noticed alot of talk about "gm/ac-delco" replacement parts vs over the counter stuff from the "local chain store stuff" i was recently researching a ignition switch and found that through o'reily's i could get either a a/c-delco swithc for 130 with a 90 day warranty or a off-brand (dont recall the name) part for 90 but with a lifetime warranty. why wouldnt the gm part have the longer warranty? and ive seen wells branded parts before that looked to have had a ford logo on them that was filed off, suggesting that they were the oem supplier in the first place. no matter what it seems that everything is coming from china anyways, even if the box has "g.m." stamped on it. seems impossible to know if your getting something that will truely last the rest of the life of the vehicle. im sure some of the "lifetime warranty" claims are merly a marketing campaign, gambling on the fact that by the next time it fails the vehicle its installed on will have changed hands but it sure seems starnge that a ac-delco switch is only warranted for 90 days, while the identical looking off-brand claims to be a product guaranteed for the rest of the time you own the vehicle. whats the real differance?

I don't have any answers but you make some good points with everything being made in china in the first place. Interested to see if anyone has any real information on the brand loyalty.
