REVIEW: $130 Shipped Ebay Roof Basket
Ok let me start by saying I took a chance on buying something on ebay. Here is what I purchased http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...33385&rd=1 . It came today at about 12pm and took about 30 minutes to install. Installation was very simple. The roof rack in my opinion looks great although it was a little uneven going together but you can't have everything perfect. Im going to put another nut and a lock washer on the hand nuts just to be safe. It took about one week from purchasing to get to my door. I measured the dimensions and made sure there would be enough room for my spare, since that was the purpose. Also room if i ever decide to use a bigger tire. It is powercoated I believe and I will be spraying clear coat on it just to preserve the look and make it a little more tough. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask. But for $130 for something that fits great adds that "look" to my car, Im glad I took a chance on ebay.

Looks decent, I'd like to see a 6 and 12 month followup to assess how well it weathers.

Yea the spare was just placed on top. Its centered now. I just ran to pep boys to buy something to mount it. I also plan to hold it with straps too

Just be careful on exit ramps/sharp turns. Remember that's a good 40-50 lbs you just added way above center mass. Also you might still want a tie down...I looked at the autozone equivalent of that spare tire mount and I don't see any way it would control the tire/rim effectively in a sudden stop (collision).
I made a bracket out of $15 worth of steel stock from Lowe's to hold my tire:

Gotta love the roof racks. Does it have light mount tabs on it? Mine does I just don't have any money or time to buy lights. If anyone has any they want to sell let me know. Oh and btw it looks great.

Clear coated, and ratcheting straps.... It doesn't have any places to mount lights but I plan to fab something up. Also I'm making one of these in the next few days.. (don't mine my old dirty tire its 13 years old. Money is tight at the moment especially with these gas prices.)
