I have my aftermarket fog lights mounted on my bumper, they are hardwired to the battery and I used a rocker switch, and put that on the panal that the switch for the lights is. (They don't shake or rattle around as much as you would think.) Yes I know this is not for roof lights, but it should give you some idea's for wiring and the switch positon.

Thanks the second link gave me a good idea of where/how to run the wires. Ive had bad luck running wires thru the doors like in the first post and wouldnt recommend it to anybody unless they have fire insurance on their car!!!

yea I'd use a relay, also make sure you use fuses don't want anything catching on fire. the best way to run the wires is to just run one power wire up to the lights. I put mine under the weather stripping in my drivers door.

I did a ghetto rig up for mine. I used some conduit clamps from a local hardware store and clamped it to my roof rack basket. I ran the wiring along the weatherstripping on the door and down through the A pillar and into the fuse box. I used an Add a fuse and a rocker switch in the dashpanel on the left. Heres a few install pics from mine:

I also ran my wires under the weatherstripping on the A-pillar.
