Total loss? really? that sucks... Frame damage? I would guess so because of the lack of damage and the hood shifting that much.

If it is frane damage Id bet it is confined to the frame horns and TOTALLY repairable. Dont look back in sorrow, just get to work.

I'm quite curious. Could you show us some more pictures of the damage?

Im not surprised, these trucks are worth so little now... Doesn't take much to total them.

FWIW I'd just buy it back and fix it.

My last accident involved a 2001 blazer with only 26,000 miles on it. They totaled it for a bent rim, a bumper and right front fender damage. Not even the head lights were cracked. I know how you feel. Even worse was the run around I got from the guy's insurance-it took them 3 weeks to approve a rental car for me and 43 days to send me a check that was $3,100 less than what i paid for the truck just 4 weeks prior.

I'd only do that if you are absolutely in love with the truck. Once that title gets branded, plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. At least that's been my experience. Otherwise, I'd go find another. Just sayin'

i could see that being a total loss.. NADA Clean Retail shows $3450 for the value and most insurance companies consider a total loss around 70% of that value which would put it around $2400. a bumper, grille, lights, fender, blending a door will add up to at least that possibly more.. and thats not including any additional damage that would be found after the dis-assembly is done
