Default Seafoam

Saw several Post and read a lot about it and tried it this weekend. First put it in my gas tank and honestly noticed the difference in about the first 10 miles. Just put it in the crankcase and have 40 miles on the engine already. No smoke as of yet but will change the oil in another 60 miles.

I just wanted to add some more info that I am sure some of you are already aware of. The stuff is a GREAT cleaner for Aluminum wheels, I mean great.

I have a 96 with the kind of Aluminum wheels that are kind of plain and have holes around the inside just outside of where the lugnuts are. Well was waxing the truck this weekend and I got to the wheels which were pretty neglected and looked bad. I did one with this paste aluminum wheel cleaner I have and it looked OK but still not great.

I was taking a rest and the can of Sea Foam caught my attention where it was sitting and I thought. " Well, if you can put it in your intake and our intake manifolds are aluminum then it should not really damage the aluminum " So I decided to wet the tip of a rag and try it on a small area on the wheel. Low and behold folks, the crap on the wheel literally came off with no hard rubbing at all. Decided to say screw it, did the whole wheel. Needless to say, I continued to use it on all 4 wheels, including the one I had already done with paste cleaner and know what ?
A, it was a snap to clean, no hard scrubbing or rubbing or polishing, just wiped it on and wiped it off when the wheel was complete
B Wheels have not looked this good since a bought the truck in 2001.

Just wanted to share this with you.

Thanks

Can't too much of this stuff eat away at your catalytic converter? I have used Seafoam and it's great, but I know some people put more than 2 cans of this stuff and even go through one can hooking it up directly to one of the vacuum tubes hooked up to the intake.

I believe its mainly petroleum in seafoam. Yup http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm

It will pretty much clean anything. Just be careful it might eat away the clear coat if there is any on the aluminum. I have the seafoam in the spray can I use on rusted bolts, light rust, clean tools, etc. and it works great. I also noticed seafoam in the can went up a lot, it used to be 5.99 now its @ 8.99

I will have to get a can of seafoam and try it out.

Another great way I found to clean my aluminum wheels is mineral spirits. Use the mineral spirits and the baked on break dust, tar, or just about anything will come right off with no effort at all. Quickly rinse and wash with car wash soap when finished to remove the mineral spirits. I did 8 aluminum wheels in about one hour and they looked like new. The mineral spirits evaporates quickly which it why you need to wash with soap, plus it's flamable. I suggest removing the wheels from the car and doing outside.
