Sloppy steering since day 1, now running 32inch tires and makes me nervous, I have narrowed it down to the "ragjoint" steering coupling. Part number 26073094 has anyone changed it. Cant track down this part, any recommendations. Has any one successfully fixed the sloppy steering.
This post talks about the stock style Rag Joint and the Flaming River style upgrade U-joint. There was a third choice to this and was in between these two in price. It was a salvage yard Jeep Grand Cherokee steering U-joint which would fit but with some Modification. No, I don't have the details on how to make it fit. You will have to do a 'search' to find those instructions. Those with machine tool access and expertise could get the benefits of cost of a Rag Joint and the sure feel of the metal U-joint---best of both Worlds ?
See below information regarding Jeep Cherokee steering shaft. I accomplished this on my 89 S15 Jimmy. I believe it is a different Jeep shaft on the 2nd Gen Blazers.
Yesterday I went to my local junk yard to pull the correct shaft off off a Jeep Cherokee for my 2000 GMC Jimmy. I was not successful in finding the correct shaft. I found the write up using a Flaming River U-Joint to eliminate the stock rag joint. I ordered the correct U-Joint from Amazon. Below is the link to the write up. https://blazerforum.com/forum/articl...int-mod-91812/
Below is the Instructions sheet for installing the U-Joint from Flaming River. https://www.flamingriver.com/pub/med...nstructions.pd

I was looking at the SXS instructions on the S10 forum and got very discouraged when I read the list of tools required. They had items like cutting torch and grinder. I like an instruction that reads 'unbolt the old part and bolt in the new part' ! I also don't have a cutting torch.
