Anybody install one of these? How are they?

Haven't had a lick of trouble with mine. Depending on which winch you use you may have to trim the frame horns.

I've had mine for more than ten years. The plate works just fine, but I did wear out one winch and I'm on my second. I did have to trim my frame horns a bit, but its easy to do and has no affect on the frame. If you have a skid plate up front, you need to do some cutting and trimming to fit it. I also clocked the clutch lever forward and trimmed a bit off the bumper rather than drill a hole and use a homemade contraption to operate the lever. You will also have to be creative as to where to mount the power box for the winch and the plug in for the lead. IMO, the best way to mount a winch on a Blazer or Jimmy.

I have just purchased a 1998 ZR2 Blazer & the following:

synergy winch mount
Outfitters 1 ton idler arm bracket
Outfitters receiver mounts
I would appreciate any & all the information you can provide about the winch install. Pictures, dimensions, advice etc. I am eventually looking to install the rough country 2.5" lift kit & am hoping to install 33" x 1150 TIRES.

Thanks in advace

John

What winch do you have stuffed under there?

When I installed the winch plate I dropped the front skid plate down by using 1 inch longer bolts and spacers to drop the skid. Worked fine for me.

I didn't take any pics or measurements when I installed mine, I just threw it in. Once the mount was in I placed the winch in and trimmed the frame horns back with a grinder until it fit. If you want cheaper way to fit 33's, 2" shackles in the back, tweak the tbars and put in a 2" body lift. You will more than likely have to do some trimming front and back, nothing serious. I ran them for a while but ended up going with 32's. The ilder arm is pretty easy as long as you have a pickle fork. The receiver mounts are easy, too.

I had a Smittybuilt XRC8 in there at first until I burned it up pulling logs up a steep hill numerous times. I now have a Smittbuilt XRC9.5 in there. Both are the same size, only difference is I had the control box on the 8 mounted on the backside of the radiator support hidden. The 9.5 I had to mount on the bumper.

So I finally took a look under the skid plate where the winch would go. Does the remote oil filter need to be remounted? Looks a little tight or that winch is really small. Thanks.

Gonna be mounting this plate and winch here soon. Took a look tonight and all 4 holes in each side don’t line up though.
