Default Towing 2 wheel drive on dolly

I would like to tow my 2000 S10 two wheel drive automatic for a short distance on a tow dolly - at slow speed (30 - 40 mph). Does anyone know if leaving the engine idling in neutral will prevent damage to the transmission?

Thanks, KDN

Just tow it in neutral... it's not going to hurt it. I towed my old camaro 30miles in neutral and it was fine.

If you are really worried, remove the drive shaft... but mark its location to the diff first.

Strap the driveshaft to the under body of the truck so that you don't loose transmission fluid out of the back of the transmission.

But for a short distance, throw it in neutral and have at it. You don't even need to have it running.
