Default Trim around side windows

I've seen the post where the guy paints those black plastic sail panels around his side glass to match his truck (it was white) and it looked sooo good.
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried removing those? If so, how was it done? Because mine are awful and I would very much like to replace them if possible.

I dont think they are removable. I think they are molded into the glass.

Tape everything surrounding them off sand them, prime them, and then paint them, finally use some poly.
