big let down this week with my blazer, it got vandlized this week on the bright side I have insurance for it but they came out and told me it was going to be a total loss.

They told me I'll have the option to buy it back but the damage was going to be more than it was worth, so my thoughts were do I let it go or buy it back on the cheep.

If I buy it back do I just use it for a toy or part it out. all the damage was to the paint on the whole front clip and cowl vent, and cosmetic to the outside of the mirrors.

just wanted to see what everyone else thought about it.

I'd like to see some pics, I would not give mine up unlessit could not be fixed.

 

oh it could be fixed but not sure I would want to spend that much on paint, I do not paint myself so I would have to pay to have it done.

They threw some kind of ACID on it, the white is turning brown and flaking off, its hard to see until your right on it

 

Is shop around some body shops ans find out for myself I don't trust insurance people they have there own agenda, just my opinion.

 

I got a quote from a body shop I trust and his was less but close about 500 difference

 

what colors the blazer? Unless its a odd color,you can find the same color in the pull it yards for cheap.

 

i wouldnt let the insurance take it. when i crashed my 89 pickup i kept it just to have more time to sell rims, tires, pull the radio, ect. ect. and when i had pick your part come to my house and pick it up, i made a little more money on top of what the insurance was going to pay me. it was another 150. i know, not much, but at that point, i was looking for every penny. it does have a few miles on it, but if it drives good and runs good, i would keep it and not fix the cosmetic damage. so what about how bad it looks, no one is going to care if you bashing down a trail in it right? i would either make it a toy, or part it out. i know that there are a few people right now that are looking for an arm rest off the front door panels. you could make so good extra money that way.

paint it rattle can camo, total cost about $50, check youtube for some examples. if it's just the paint that's messed up who cares, no reason not to bash through the forest now
