The two should together. My 2k Z was the same way when I got it. No hood light and those same two wires were not connected. When I put the two together got light.

My 98 should be nearly identical under the hood. The light should have a connection coming from the big wrapped wire bundle across the top by the firewall.

The other I'm not sure. I didn't see anything like that on mine beside the wiper board casing. On the other side of the engine bay I did find this;

It suddenly occurs to me that this plugs into the canister right next to it. Perhaps this is my my A/c blows warm air fully charged?

Not sure about the red(did not see it on my Envoy)... but as for the other connecting end for the light you may want to check in the black wire housing that runs across by the wiper motor to see, maybe was disconnected at one point and forgotten about and became hidden... I took a look at my Envoy and thats where that end came from....Hope that probably solve the issue for the light.

Not sure how I missed something this obvious. Color me embarrassed. I charged the AC this summer and thought maybe the condenser was shot. We'll see if it works this spring.

Best luck with the mystery plug.

I figured out all mine. Turns out one of them was never hooked up to anything... and the other went to my o2 sensor on my Exhaust Manifold that wasn't installed yet. lol And the vacuum lines just needed switching around.
