new here. ok so I own a 93 sonoma 4wd and am looking to buy a blazer/jimmy in the next couple weeks around 1995-99.

I have tons of extra parts for the sonoma(trannys, diffs,suspension and so on) and am wondering which years are interchangeable with the sonoma? or possibly what is the best year for interchangeable parts amongst the 2nd gen blazers? any help appreciated from all you qualified experts out there

98, thats what I have

 

seems to me everything is basically interchangeable up to 97 and 98 is different? are nv 3500, gu6, hubs and axles all interchangeable?

 

Best for Blazers, 1972. For 2nd gens '98 up.

 

thanks diaita. so none of my spare parts for my 93 will fit 98? it doesn't really matter, was just thinking I could have 1 inventory of spare parts for 2 vehicles I will look around for a 98. BTW I am in Cowichan Bay...we are practically neighbours.

well Diaita said 98 and up are the best 2nd gens, so I will go with that. I will not be beating the crap outta this vehicle, I am 47 and a little past that ....besides that is what the sonoma is for . just looking for a reliable truck with easily interchangeable parts that last a few years instead of 1.

96 & 97 is a couple in its own(transmission operation),stay away from 95 (they were in the middle of computer changes) and 93/94 is there own when it comes to the transmission as well (only 93/94 work)

 

98^ but i like the front end of the 95-97 better but parts are more interchangable for 98^

 

There are a lot of suspension and drivetrain parts that are interchangeable, but there are subtle differences. I agree with Chris, stay away from the 95s, they seem to be a mix of 1st gen and 2nd parts, but not always depending on exactly when they were built.

Nice and sunny here too, but I'm sure it won't last.
