Note to self: NEVER buy IGNITION PARTS on EBAY .... EVER .....
Blazer left us dead in the water, 4 miles from home the other night around 8:30PM, in torrential rain. Had to call a neighbor for a ride. Then spend an hour trying to get to my trailer, which I parked on a hill in my yard ... which now after 4" of rain has become a quagmire of epic proportions. Got the Silverado stuck several times in 4x4 trying to reach it. Had to remove the wheel chocks and just let the 2k lb. trailer slam into the bumper ... twice. THEN I blew my back out yanking up on the tongue to make sure it was latched - hell of a night ... all thanks to cheap eBay crap!!!
Going to either rebuild this distributor with AC Delco parts, or just buy another complete setup from a reputable performance company. Blazer is down for the count until the parts get here ....

Donut between passenger side of Y-pipe and exhaust manifold blew out... loud, and I was smelling exhaust in the cabin. On the way to try and get it up on a lift, I passed a local Midas shop with 2 bay doors open and no cars in them. Turned around and stopped in...
Manager was a nice guy and took it in right away. Once on the lift, he showed me how the pre-cat was right up against the transmission pan. My guess is that I bent it on one of the many ice & snow banks I negotiated this winter...
He had his guy cut the Y-pipe, heat & bend it back in place, weld in a sleeve, and replace the donut. Topped off my front & rear diffs and transfer case, and I was out if there in less than 2 hours... only $200 lighter and with a quiet exhaust. Totally worth it, IMO...

Did a bit more on the SAS oh and I may have made a huge discovery that will hopefully aid anyone doing and SAS in the future
. Not to mention I found some tires and wheels in the woods that just happen to fit my axles lol!

Blazer is up and running, thanks to NAPA. They matched up all new parts to replace the chi-com parts in the original eBay distributor. Got a new coil, HEI module, pickup, and condenser. Also got a new set of plug wires, just in case. I'll throw those on next weekend. The new module has a 5yr/50k mile warranty - try that with eBay parts!
I had an issue with the new pickup being just a couple thou too big - couldn't seat this little retaining clip back in place. After grinding and dremeling proved futile, I ended up taking the metal plate off the chinese one and swapping it to the new pickup. Then, it was out of alignment and the teeth were hitting. Had to loosen the screws and put side pressure on the unit with a screwdriver, tighten, then slide the shaft back in to test. Finally success after many frustrating attempts.
Seems to idle much smoother now, and the power is right back up there again. So now I've got 2 dead piles of parts off eBay to test and figure out which one shorted out ....
