Partsguy: Yes sir, your truck use American bulb 12v. different from GCC (Gulf coast country) 12v.
Me: *Begins wacking idiot with my sandal*
its important to note that a 3057 here is EXACTLY the same as a 3057 anywhere else
First off, not all Advances are the same, nor are any other 2 parts stores. I am a general manager for Advance and I have very knowledgable team members. Most of my people specialize in certain areas of cars. One of my guys was a parts manager for a local Ford dealer till they closed a few months ago. Another ran a VW dealer and service center.
I love to hire someone that doesn't know too much and train them. You would be surprised to see how fast people can learn if they want to.
The problem with most parts stores is that they hire people that don't know anything and then expect them too learn really fast. Most stores don't want to pay their team members anything. I have learned that if you start someone out with a little more money, they are extremely willing to learn and help build the store.
Sorry, I just think it is BS that everybody badmouths parts store employees. Have you ever been one? If you walk into a store where the employees love their job, you will get the best service available. If the employees treat customers like crap and try to sell them everything behind the counter, it a direct reflection of the manager. If you ever have this happen to you, you should notify the manager or submit a complaint. That is how they know their team isn't doing what they should be.
Again, sorry about my ranting.

I've complained many times and still they gonna hire idiots. How do you complain to the manager when hes the biggest screw up of them all. Guess after tomorrow I'm prolly gonna be banned from both advanced stores in town and no sleep lost over it.
My best friend worked at auto zone and I still refused to go there.
I tried to put in some apps to advanced (when they first moved to town). I was told since I worked in a mechanic shop under my uncle I was over qualified. My best friend tried to get away from autozone and they told him the same excuse.
I only go to oreillys now and only deal with one person there. Unlike what you say he indeed hates his job and who he works with but knows his stuff and is really helpfull beside the fact.
You might think we are bad mouthing your store but face the fact we are only bad mouthing the ones we go or have been to. I apologize if you take what I say the wrong way or if you think I'm talking about the chain as a whole. If I was stuck out of town I would try anybody new and then if I was crapped all over then complain. We can't help it your one store that you seem to be running well and doing good at can't take up the slack of the hundreds or thousands of others that hire idiots that are only there cause they are too stupid to get hired by fast food.
Closest car quest to me is almost 45 mins away. I've been in it and the people seemed helpful but have not gotten anything from there so I don't feel I have the experience to compare them.
Just have to get in on this one,
Went to advance the other day to get a fuel pressure regulator for my sons blazer, I ask them if there was a gasket that wouldneed to be replaced when we took off the intake. A lady waited on me and looked it up and said "NO". I then questioned her again and she ask some guy who was working there and he said "No it doesn't require a gasket" I explained to him the job I was doing and again they told me therewas no such thing. I came home and looked it up for myself sure enough there it waslooking right back at me a plenum gasket kit complete with picture, part number and price. I printed it off and when I went back the next day when I walked in they regonized me and ask me what I forgot to get the day before[:@]I showed them the paper and told them that this is what I needed yesterday and they actually had the nerve to tell me that they must have just started carrying them[sm=goodidea.gif] (YEA RIGHT!!!) Do you think they have a quota to meet everyday for aggrevation?

The stores I have been to in East Orlando, one off of SR 50, and SR 551 at pershing, have knowledgeable people. Some that I have met used to be mechanics at dealerships, or are students at some mechanic's school or they run mechanics shop on the side, too. I have yet to come across a dumb employee that does not know that Chevy and GMC are one and the same, and Mercury and Ford are also the same.
Discount Auto Parts, well I had just one experience, but overall they are ok, too. I have bought parts from them, too, but if you want a specific type & brand, then I go online.
