whats the average life of a 4.3
i was just curious what the average life is on the 4.3, i have a 94 that just hit 230,000 miles still all original except for exhaust and air filter. I can still take off from a stop sign and burn the tires off the rim if i wanted to. Haven't decided if i want to rebuild the motor when it goes or do a v-8 swap. I also heard once the 4.3's hit 200,000 miles its hard to keep them running.

Ive had 2 s10 blazers,a 91 2wd,a 91 4wd(still have it). 1st one had 362,000 miles on it. I used 3 quarts of oil a WEEK. but still ran great. Me and a few guys at the shop tried blowing it by beating the sh out of it on the road and it still never blew.ended up wrecking it. The one i have now has 210k miles and its doing ok. burning some oil,but runs great. 4.3 tbi for the win!

Mine is also a '94 currently at 274,000 miles doesn't use a drop of oil and runs as strong as ever, it's all about maintenance and not beating it to death. This lil 4.3 CPI has been very good to me although it soon will come out in favor of a v8 when I do the SFA just because I want to.

My 4.3 has 120k on it and my motor is pretty much blown up. Iv put over 700 miles on it with the piston hitting the cylinder head. I knew the motor was gonna blow up so I beat on it and after 700 miles of me trying to blow it up it finally happened the other night. I mean it runs right now but it runs like crap. Its running on 0 oil pressure and when I step on the gas the oil pres goes up a tiny bit. They are real good motors if you take care of them (the previous owner of my blazer didn't). The 4.3 is pretty much a small block chevy, minus the back 2 pistons.
