Default When to call it quits.....

Hey everybody,
My 94 Jimmy 4dr has seen better days, 161k, idle issues, needs front end work, needs new encoder motor switch, blah, blah, blah. At what point should one call it quits? Does the cost of repairing outweigh the cost of finding something in better condition, or should one just stay the course and keep plugging away at what they already have? I like the truck very much, but im not sure if im simply dumping money into a hole. Anyone else have a similar tough decision to make?

Compare the first year cost of the vehicle you are considering to the next year's cost of your current one, then decide.

Good point. If i were to spend, lets say, 4000.00 on an OK truck, as apposed to putting 2000.00 into this one, the 2000.00 could just about fix up everything im looking to fix up, at that point there would be no reason to move on. Im sure other have had similar decisions to make, sometimes you just start to lose faith and interest.

Look at how long all these repairs will last you too.
If you do all this just to have a bunch of other stuff crap out on you in a year or so then it's pointless, right?

Factor in the remaining life of the truck and engine and stuff, and if you think it's just going to be a headache again down the road then ditch it.

I did this with my old car...it had a overheating problem that cracked the rad. I replaced the rad, but I could tell a head gasket was going and it was going to be a major problem within a year or two. I sold it and bought my blazer.
