General Chat Chat about all things Blazer (and related vehicles). Off-topic stuff should be in the lounge, and all mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.

Would you make this trade?

Yes, I love my ZR2. My concern (besides having to pay him back later as opposed to doing so now) is that I'm at nearly 4K into this truck already. Purchase price of 1600, 2000 for 2 transmission rebuilds, 200+ on maintenance work (trans fluid flush, shift solenoid, oil change, etc) and I still don't even have working A/C and I have a misfire. The 94 the guy would trade me apparently runs fine AND has A/C that works.

I think I'm going to call him and talk a little about it, I feel awfully crappy about taking money from friends.

That would be the other problem. Dude lives up in wisconsin (probably a 2 hour drive each way) so I would likely not even see his truck until we meet up to swap.

well, take your chances. Sometimes they workout, sometimes they dont. You'll be in a deep hole if you borrowed another 800 from your buddy. 800 could fix up that new blazer you'd be getting. But it sounds like a decent deal. If you do end up driving all that way, and you dont like it, turn around. Nobodys stopping you.

the 94 looks like a total "panther" but...having had one my self...they're not as...(thinks how to phrase it nicely)....reliable (IMHO)...as the 2nd gen's are...sure mine got me into mud and out of it..but..replaced the tranny 2x's in the 16 months i had it and blew out the 4wd on it the first time i took it out in the mud after having it replaced the 2nd time...maybe it was my "***** to the wall" attitude driving it..or maybe it was jynxed..but im so so glad i sold it and got a more reliable ride..which now sits in the drive way un-registered needing some cosmetic work....HAHAHAHA...

I got some more pictures of the interior of the 94 yesterday and it looks fine enough (little dirty) but I have something I'm a bit concerned about. In the exterior pics, you can see he shaved the rear door handles. I asked him about it, and he did it, and it sounds like he wired the door poppers into the passenger front door lock button? Does that make any sense at all? It kind of sounds like it's "unfinished" or perhaps ghetto fab and concerns me greatly right now.

I cannot stand doing electrical stuff. I don't have any reliable tools to do it, and don't have the patience to trace down electrical gremlins.

Plus I'm not thrilled about the possible idea of someone hitting the door unlock button and having to reclose the rear doors..
