Default Zr2? Is it worth it?

As of now i have a 2wd jimmy and im saving to get a 2door 4wd blazer. Probably a 2000 or 20001. My question is weather or not its worth putting in the extra money for the zr2 or would i be fine with the standart 4wd?

For the ocassional offroad excursions you may find yourself wanting a bit more lift and some bigger tires... I say go with the Zr2 right off the get go and look into doing a quick-disconnect setup with your front sway bar. Ocassional trail use without the extra wear and tear on front end parts and CV joints from constant DD use.

Lifting a stock standard 4wd to the height of a ZR2 has some negative impact on reliability sadly. And besides... the Zr2 with the wider stance and the flares looks badass lol.

That's my opinion though, I took my stock 4wd I had down a few little trails but nothing too extensive... I wouldn't have wanted anything much more extensive. It depends on how hard you're going to wheel it too.

Good points. I agree about the fender flares 2. They make it alot tougher!

if you find a good deal on a zr2 you will probably regret not buying it. not to say you cant wheel pretty hard in the standard. i have a 2000 2dr 4wd and the thing goes just about anywhere with some mild lift and decent tires.

I would deffently prefer a zr2. Just wanted to make sure it was worth the money.

I found this Zr2 on craigs list. Is that a reasonable price or do you think i could get lucky and get one cheeper?

Where you located. I find it a bit pricey for my area. I also find that they are more $$in the US then here for some reason.

Looks pretty clean but I'd go check it out for sure!

I have a ZR2 and I love it! Looked at many regular ones but fell in love with the look of the Z. Take a look at my build (Click here) and see what I've done!
