I had a similar problem. I think that it may be your EGR valve as swartllk has said. That's what was wrong with mine. It's fine on the highway but will die when you come to a stop. I removed it, cleaned it, and put it back. It was ok for a while but it started acting up again. I finally had it tested, and it was shot. I had to cough up 180 for a new one. Try rmoving it and cleaning it real good first though.

 

Well, Unfortunately the bazer died before I could get to the EGR. Took it to Firestone and they called me and said they have narrowed it down to the computer. I OK'd it @ $330. Not too bad I guess. And they will warranty the work. This would explain the random lights and assorted hiccups it was having. I will repost when I get her back and see how she runs.
