95 Blazer 4.3 Will Not Fire

I have a 4.3, 1995 Blazer. The book says that it is CPI version. New fuel filter and pump and I have spark at the plug - infact if I give it a little starting fluid it runs for a couple of seconds.

The car will not start it cranks but does not fire - there does seem to be a short instantaneous attempt tostart on the initial key turn, but thats it. It will crank and crank - I smell no gas under the hood. My thoughts are that it is fuel related but I am at a loss as to what it might be and where to start looking.

Any help is greatly appreciated as my wife has been on my ass for a couple of days now to get this resolved.

Thanks

RE: 95 Blazer 4.3 Will Not Fire

I am having the same problem out of my 93. I have replaced the fuel pump, Filter, put new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor and it still wont run unless I dump gas down the intake. Now that I have replaced everything else I bought a new Spyder that should be here tomorrow. I got a good dael on the unit at www.lindertech.com/reconinj.htm. Once I get it put in I will Tell you if it worked or not but in the meantime here is the one I bought. All together with the Core charge and shipping it costs $360

4.3 CPI Service Kit
Part# CPI-200
LTS introduces the General Motors 4.3L service kit. “Buy it all at once” This kit is just what you need for the 1991-95 4.3L “W” engines when you have diagnosed them as needing a new CPI unit. It includes an LTS reconditioned CPI unit with upgraded regulator so you don’t have any more worries about a leaking fuel regulator, the fuel supply & return lines which will put your mind at ease when removing those brittle plastic lines from the old unit, an upper plenum gasket and an EGR screen-type gasket to take care of the common problem of carbon getting stuck in the EGR valve. This is a 10% savings over purchasing these parts separately. Keep in mind, there is a $50.00 core charge for the CPI unit.
$300.00 each

Thanks - that would be my last resort - I think the pump may be shot - when I cracked the fitting on the fuel filter (the new one) after a couple of cranks the fuel dribbled out instead of spraying - so the pressure is suspect. -I need to locate the schrader fitting to check the fuel pressure - I'm afraid its mounted on the fuel rail under the intake.

Here you go:

Should be located directly off the back of the upper plenum on the fuel supply line right before it goes into the intake plenum.
